Thing 1 – Life-Long Learning

I enjoying reading and listening to the effective habits of life-long learning. They all make great sense. As I’ve grown as an adult, parent and educator, I see how important these habits are in order to change and challenge yourself.

For me, habit 7 Teach/Mentor others will be the easiest. I love to work with teachers and it is part of my job to teach and mentor others regarding technology. Generally I like to know a tool pretty well before I begin teaching others. However, sometimes the best teaching situations occur when we learn along side each other.

On the flip side, habit 2 accepting responsibility for your own learning will be the most challenging. Life is so very hectic. I need a structured schedule to keep me on track.

The most important habit while I work through this course is habit 5, creating your own toolbox. As a technology specialist, teachers and students come to me for assistance when they want to integrate technology in a new and interesting way. I need to have at my fingertips the knowledge of a variety of tools. There are so many great web 2.0 tools out there, I’m finding it hard to know what are the small differences between the web 2.0 tools and which tool is “right for the job”. So creating my own web 2.0 toolbox will be very important to me in this course.
